3D reconstructions nowadays have become an efficient research tool for archaeology that permits scholars to visualize and study different hypothesis all together.
In order to reconstruct the elevations of a late antique centrally planned building, I digitized plan and height measurements of centrally planned buildings built between the 1st century CE and the 6th century CE. The measurements were collected from academic papers, plans, or sections.
The dataset created is a .csv file that contains the location of 25 buildings and all the measurements that were used during the reconstruction of plan and height proportion.
Although the data collected here are already present in paper form within the final appendix of several publications, the usefulness of this work lies in making these data more readily available and searchable.
In the future, the creation of this type of dataset could make it possible to speed up the reconstructing processes and to create reconstructive hypotheses that rely on a wider range of comparisons.
