Introduzione

Preliminary results obtained through the applications of integrated geophysical survey methods (Magnetometry, Ground Probing Radar - GPR, Frequency Domain Electromagnetic Method - FDEM) in the hortus of the Praedia Iuliae Felicis (Pompeii, II, 4) and aimed to reconstruct the original arrangement of the large open garden of the Praedia. The two-phase survey has been conducted in November 2016 and April 2018.

It is part of the larger project “PRAEDIA. Pompeian Residential Architecture Environmental, Digital and Interdisciplinary Archive”, whose main aim is to contribute to a deeper knowledge of Pompeian housing through an extensive program of multidisciplinary investigations in Pompeii’s Regio II. This neighbourhood played a crucial role in the urban texture of the ancient city, as it is close to a city gate, the amphitheatre, the burial grounds of Porta Nocera, and the main street, Via dell’Abbondanza.
