Introduzione

The ‘Fabrics of the Central Mediterranean’ (FACEM) database (www.facem.at) is an online collection of fabrics of Greek, Punic, and Roman pottery manufactured in the Mediterranean from the 6th to the 2nd centuries BCE. Designed in 2011 at the University of Vienna for interdisciplinary provenance studies of ceramics, it offers a web based information system committed to open access publication of results on ceramic fabric analysis. This paper gives an overview of more than a decade of research edited in FACEM and new developments in view of changing standards in digital humanities.
