Introduzione

his work presents the preliminary results of the study of two archaeological sites identified during preventive archaeology activities related to the construction of a gas pipeline in the central-eastern sector of Sicily. The stratigraphic excavations undertaken following their identification, thanks to archaeological surveillance activities, have documented significant evidence of pre-protohistoric occupation in central-eastern Sicily in both cases. The two sites are located in the municipalities of Gagliano Castelferrato (EN) and Nicosia (EN), respectively. These investigations have significantly contributed to the knowledge of the prehistoric occupation of this region of Sicily, indicating several settlement episodes from the Neolithic to the Early Bronze Age, along with a substantial settlement phase during the Middle Bronze Age.
